noah's arc Fiona, pig rescue - Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary

Fiona the potbellied pig's rescue in January. This lucky pig was brought to Noah’s Ark by Henry County Animal Control hours before a severe winter storm hit. Fiona was abandoned outside of a house, left behind after her owner moved. She had no shelter, no water and no food. She has a few older injuries (most likely dog bites) and was obviously fed an improper diet as she is extremely overweight. Fiona is settling in well and as you can see, is very appreciative of her cozy hay bed. While pigs can make wonderful companion animals for some people, most people aren’t prepared for (or capable of) properly caring for such an intelligent, unique animal. Sadly, over 50% of pet pigs are rehomed before their 1st birthday, and many are abandoned like Fiona was. We are very grateful to Henry County Animal Control for responding to the call on this sweet little pig and rushing to help her in the freezing, pouring down rain. Rescuing animals is demanding, emotional and expensive, and we couldn’t give animals like Fiona new beginnings without your support!
